What is psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a systemic (body-wide), auto-immune, inflammatory skin disease which tends to present with plaques of thickened, dry, itchy skin. Psoriasis is a long-term, non-curable condition which can only be managed with treatment. It tends to go through stages of getting better, and then getting worse.
There can also be nail and joint (psoriatic arthritis) involvement too, however this is less common. Some people can actually present with psoriatic arthritis but have no skin issues associated with psoriasis.
What is eczema?
Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin condition which can be very itchy. It can affect people of any age, although it tends to be most common in childhood.
Around 70–90% of cases occur before the age of 5 years, with the highest incidence of onset in the first year of life. It is thought to be a disturbance with the skin barrier. It also can go through stages of getting better, then worse.
It is a complex condition but it is thought that family history, environmental factors such as house dust mites, pollution, pets or pollen can contribute to eczema.
Treatment
Treating eczema & psoriasis with medical grade skincare
At SkinLab, we are stockists and prescribers of medical grade skincare such as ZO (a professional prescription-only range made by Dr Zein Obagi — a world renowned dermatologist) and EnerPeel Skin Med — a medical grade skincare regime developed by scientists.
After a medical assessment, we can prescribe products to clients for use at home as part of their daily skincare regime in order to manage their skin condition.

Treatment
Treating eczema & psoriasis with Dermalux LED phototherapy
Light Emitting Diode (LED) Phototherapy is a non-invasive treatment that targets specific non-thermal light to energise cells which triggers a cascade of bio-stimulatory responses. It is scientifically proven for a wide range of indications, including psoriasis, redness and inflammatory / problem skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema.
Well evidenced for its regenerative and healing benefits, phototherapy does not transfer heat or create trauma — making it particularly effective in general skin rejuvenation by targeting cells to encourage more normal skin behaviour and aid healing. LED phototherapy is recognised as a crucial skincare treatment due to its role in the foundation of skin optimisation and good skin health. Dermalux offers unique regenerative benefits in addition to its recovery benefits.
Dermalux Flex is a medically licensed device with one of the highest safety profiles. Phototherapy is a pain-free treatment with no downtime and suitable for all skin types. We recommend 30 minutes daily via our home rental scheme for 14 days. It can also be added onto other treatments to enhance results and reduce downtime by as much as 50%.
Results can last for several months, however regular maintenance sessions are recommended intermittently to extend the results of ongoing general skin health treatments.
