We use Lynton Excelight IPL for hair removal — what is it?
Lynton Excelight is a medical-grade Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system used for long-term hair reduction. It works by delivering controlled light energy into the hair follicle, safely heating and disabling it to reduce future growth.
Lynton technology is UK-manufactured and widely used within the NHS and private medical settings, reflecting its strong safety and clinical profile.
As a medical-grade device used in NHS settings, Lynton Excelight meets rigorous safety standards — giving you confidence in both the technology and your treatment.
Is the treatment permanent?
IPL provides permanent hair reduction. Most patients experience a significant long-term decrease in hair growth, although occasional maintenance sessions may be needed due to hormonal factors.
Can facial hair be treated?
Yes. IPL is highly effective for facial hair, including the upper lip, chin, jawline and neck. It is particularly helpful for hormonally driven hair growth and can significantly improve confidence and skin smoothness.
How many sessions are required?
It is different for everyone. Most patients require 6–12 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, as hair must be treated during its active growth phase.
Your practitioner will assess your hair type, skin type and treatment area to estimate the number of sessions likely needed for your individual response.
Is there downtime?
Downtime is minimal. Mild redness or warmth may occur temporarily and usually settles within a few hours.
You can return to your normal activities immediately after treatment. Your practitioner will provide full aftercare guidance including sun protection advice.
